Lately I've been trying to break
a bad habit of my boyfriend: to eat
for breakfast one of those tempting croissants that
are found in many bars.
I am not speaking
of baked croissant made from scratch, but the frozen croissants
that the bars turn out in large quantities and
really have a fragrant and a catchy appearance. But what about the Quality?!? And what ingredients are used?!?
I don't know! It's better to get used again to eat something more genuine!
It seems that the experiment is working, thanks to a little effort on my part to find good replacements.
This week I prepared a simple but fragrant plum cake with orange blossom and honey that is beating the fake croissants for my happiness!

Ultimamente sto cercando di far perdere al mio
ragazzo un brutto vizio, quello di mangiare
per colazione uno di quegli invitanti croissant che
si trovano in molti bar. Non parlo dei croissant da pasticceria fatti
artigianalmente, ma dei croissant surgelati che i bar sfornano in gran quantità
e che veramente hanno un profumo e un aspetto ammalianti. Ma la Qualità?!? E
gli ingredienti che vengono usati?!?
Boh!Meglio ri-abituarsi a mangiare qualcosa di più
genuino.
Pare che l'esperimento stia funzionando, grazie anche
ad un piccolo sforzo da parte mia nel trovare validi sostitutivi.
Questa settimana ho preparato un semplice ma
profumatissimo plum cake ai fiori d'arancio e miele che sta battendo con mia
felicità i finti croissant!

Plum cake with orange
blossom and honey
1 1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon orange blossom essence
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
Heat oven to 200 degrees.
Beat butter and sugar with a pinch of salt until the mixture becomes fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time and egg yolks, honey, essence of orange blossom and finally the flour mixed with the baking powder.
Butter and cover with baking paper a cake mold, pour the mixture and cook for about 45 minutes.
Let cool 5 minutes before removing from the mold and wait to cool completely before eating.

Plum cake ai fiori d'arancio e miele
gr 200 farina
gr 200 zucchero
gr 200 burro
2 uova
2 tuorli
1 cucchiaino essenza fiori d'arancio
1/2 cucchiaio miele mille fiori o arancio
1/2 cucchiaino lievito
1 pizzico sale
Scaldare il forno a 200 gradi.
Sbattere il burro e lo zucchero con un pizzico di
sale finché il composto diventa spumoso.
Aggiungere uno alla volta le uova e i tuorli, il
miele, l'essenza di fiori d'arancio e infine la farina mischiata al lievito.
Imburrare e ricoprire con carta da forno uno stampo
da plum cake, versare l'impasto e informare per circa 45 minuti.
Fate raffreddare 5 minuti prima di togliere il plum
cake dallo stampo e aspettate il completo raffreddamento prima di mangiare.
