Milano Food Week

Milano Food Week 2012

Finally, yesterday began the Food Week! The weather was cloudy and it was not suitable for my bike, so I asked my boyfriend to ride me around by his motorcycle (at least it's faster!).
As was the Food Revolution Day, I wanted to dedicate the day to good eating habits, but first of all I went to register to the week events.
Next to the info point is one of the most fun activities of this week: The Recipe Market, a lovely spot that wants to look like a real market, with wooden boxes full of recipes! you can take them and leave yours.

Then, under a more and more cloudy sky, I went to a Farmers' Market, where there are real fruits, vegetables, cheese, jams, honey, milk, herbal products. Yesterday I bought a lavender unguent. I gave it to Johnny, my hero-boyfriend , to treat a minor irritation on his arm!

Around midday , I went to a little  oil tasting and a wine tasting . Here I tried two delicious wines from Trentino, a red wine Teroldego of 2010 and a sparkling Reserve Graal of 2004.

After the wine, was just a good time to lunch and there was no time to waste because it was starting to rain.
Food revolution day = homemade and traditional food = Trattoria la Madonnina, one of my favorite places, where you can always find a good, great and original Cotoletta alla Milanese.

The rain has stopped my ride in the afternoon, and unfortunately, two bad has stopped me  today: a bomb placed at the entrance of a school in the South of Italy and at night a bad earthquake in the North.
So no celebrations today, but tomorrow I'm going to attend new and sweets events...

I'm going to post the recipes I received for our Food Revolution in few days and at the end of this week I will be giving you the recipe that has revolutionized this food week edition!

  2. I heard about the earthquake and thought of the bloggers located there. The bomb I had not. I am certainly glad you are safe! Outside of that, your pictures do portray a fun and tasty day at the market. The oil tasting does intrigue-I have never been to one nor heard of one around here. Thanks for sharing this!

    1. Thanks Tina, you're so kind!
About oil tasting, here in Italy is pretty common, but not as the wine tasting. We have different varieties of olive oil, from North to South, with different colours and taste. We're lucky about that!
